if ride to hell: retribution was good
days gone is a flawed, but fun adventure
my main complaints from this game came from the sometimes clunky gameplay and physics and the corny writing on occasion
however, the core gameplay and story are captivating. this environment is one i connect with deeply growing up in washington and visiting oregon many times. the environment really feels fun to ride around in and explore. the bike is great to control and super fun to ride. i wish the fuel didn’t run out as fast but that’s a nitpick, as fuel is easy enough to come by. on foot, this game controls great. i almost never had problems doing what i needed to. rolling felt satisfying, sprinting is fast enough, melee, while basic, is good. however, i wish stamina was less strict. it does feel like sprinting for 10 seconds drains you of your stamina and then you can’t roll which is so obnoxious. but it’s the story is basic for a zombie game, but good enough to make me want to play through each mission to unravel Deek’s past. this game is also a graphical showcase. it really does look like a ps5 game at certain points and the weather effects and lighting are always phenomenal. at worst, the textures can look flat, especially on ambulances and papers. but the environment always looks beautiful.
