Fashion Police Squad adds unique twists to the classic arena FPS. It strikes a chord upon starting a new game. If you've ever enjoyed a classic video game like Doom or Quake, then you would understand. It feels like the joy of early pioneering first-person shooters, but with style. Quite literally.
This game is precisely how it seems. Fashion, style, and original ideas.
That's a throwback I haven't seen in a long time.
Choose your style
The charm was the first thing I noticed. Instead of being depicted as a man-baby growing more manly and beat up as the difficulty increases, this game takes the concept and makes it their own. It's refreshing to see new concepts, even if they're based on other ideas. It gets boring when ideas are merely duplicated.
The distinction is in how they depict how the characters' manner and poise grow as the challenge increases, from anxious to confident and expressive.
It's a great touch that appears to correspond with the game's concept.
Gameplay
It's a non-violent shooter
It wasn't what I expected at first, and this is when the plot twists kick in. You're not going about killing NPCs; instead, you're playing the game. The world is boring, and you're here as a Fashion enforcer to clean up the city since the fashion codes must be up to date. Assist in restoring life and style with color.
It's wonderful to see that there appear to be many different mechanics for each sort of adversary and concepts to be later expanded as the game progresses.
Initial Concerns
There is a lot of unnecessary vocals
If the opponent / announcer voice lines upset you, thankfully you can disable them in the options menu. It's fine to have interactive voices and such on occasion, but in this case, it's excessive and should be toned down or disabled.
Conclusion of First Impressions
I'm like what I am seeing
While I haven't played too much of the game yet, I have completed the first 2 level. I intend to play the rest of the game to see what else it has to offer.
Before even giving the game a chance, I was turned off by it. I would advise you to not be like me, but rather be more open minded with the games you see.
It's fun, hilarious, and has many connections to prior titles while implementing its own concepts to make everything feel fresh and new rather than dull.
I'll follow up with a more in-depth evaluation of the game as a whole and any story if it develops once I've completed or played more of it, so stay tuned!
My initial thoughts on this game come to a close with the caveat that, while others may disagree, that is what makes gamers unique. You don't have to share their interests or agree with them and are welcome to critic me on mine.
If you want to catch me on one of my streams or locate me on social media, you may do so at the following locations, I'm always playing something new.
