Take control of sexy anime knights in this gacha RPG
Imagine waking up and learning you’re a god with a group of sexy lady knights who are all attracted to you and ready to serve at your beck and call. If it sounds like a teenage boy’s fantasy, you’re not wrong, but it’s also the plot of Master of Knights!
But don’t get me wrong. If that little synopsis isn’t precisely your schtick, there are plenty of things in Master of Knights to enjoy. This gacha-styled turn-based RPG has plenty of the familiar elements you’ll find in the genre: paid summons and auto features to speed through battles, but the unique combat mechanic made me feel like playing a game of chess as opposed to a traditional gacha. But from the moment I started, it was the visuals that really made this title unique.
I was impressed by the opening anime-styled cinematic that did a good job pulling me in right off the bat. I’m a fan of visual novels, and though Master of Knights isn’t that, the impressive animations, combined with the music, brought the game to life.
Combat felt like playing on a chess board, where each character could move uniquely. This made the hero collection aspect of Master of Knights a bit more interesting, as I had reasons to collect new characters other than the common — this one looks really cool and hits harder —elements found in similar games. Strategy is a real element that’s mixed in with combat.
I’ve said it once, and I’ll repeat that gacha isn’t really my style. Still, between the fantastic character designs and the low gem prices, which were around $1.00 for 240 gems to summon other heroes, it seemed very fair when compared to similar games that charge $100 per pack sometimes to summon. If you’re into chess, anime, or just gacha-styled RPGs, this one might be worth looking into.
