I'm a huge fan of the Monster Hunter series so I'll be honest here.
So firstly, this won't be for everyone. Sorry but it's just a fact.
It has the soul of the MH games as you'd expect, but it's kinda dumbed down for mobile, but still pretty engaging.
The "hunts" are very short. Even against the boss monsters. During hunts for the trash monsters such as the Shamos or Jagras, you have unlimited time and can take them out easily by tapping on the screen. Against the boss monsters though, you have 75 seconds to take it out. By tapping on the screen you can do a variety of attacks that differ based on your weapon of choice. You only have access to the Sword and Shield at the beginning but as your Hunter Rank improves by completing quests, you'll unlock more weapon categories.
as you progress the story, you'll also see more of the monsters you're likely more familiar with.
As you move around, you'll be able to collect items such as different kinds of ore or bones.
True to the AR Niantic style, expect to travel a lot to see different areas and environments.
in MH fashion, you'll have the option of creating parties or doing solo hunts parties are fun, but only if there are other players nearby.
All in all though, I enjoy it. But like I said, I'm a huge MH fan so I may be biased in that.
