FINAL FANTASY XI on MOBILE (or at least the closest thing too it)

A true MMORPG experience in the palm of your hand. Where other games from this mobile-MMO developer have fallen short of hope and expectation (Alchemia Story, Iruna Online etc) Toram perfectly encapsulates that older feel, without losing any of it's charm and magic by being on mobile.
Toram Online finds itself gameplay and concepts from the (at times) forgotten Final Fantasy XI Online (not to be confused by FF XIV). From it's shockingly charming aesthetic and graphics to core mechanics and gameplay. In the past, Square had announced and cancelled a Final Fantasy 11 Mobile port. Toram Online is the absolute closest thing we could ever expect to that having become a reality. Clearly not content with just being a mobile clone of FFXI, however, Toram pulls in ideas from other, less expected areas.
The boss hunting seems to have far more resemblance to classic Monster Hunter series games than any other MMO or contemporary. This can all be thanks to the unique "Part break" system that comes with boss encounters (and this game LOVES boss encounters). While using specific moves, your character has the chance to target and break particular boss parts. These parts can be framed and used to create unique boss weapons and armor.
The live, player driven market gives Toram a bustling economy, and adds onto things to do. Once I began crafting boss gear, I realized I needed Spina (the games in world currency) to craft more. After quick research, I was pointed to farming Bird Wing items off monsters. It has the most stable pricing on the market. And thus, I began a personal-side-mission of my own doing to farm that item for money. The game has a plethora of things like this to do besides grinding bosses, stories, events etc.
The game does falter in terms of UI. Little customization exists for it. Cluttered is a simple yet effective descriptor. By no means the worst UI on the platform (ten fold more digestible than FFXI's PS2 archerypal UI). But still not great.
All in all, Toram is a wonderful MMORPG, harkening back to older times. Plentiful systems and a seemingly consistently active player base to this day. A real gem for mobile gaming.
