Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, also known as ML or MLBB. A multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game situated in the Land of Dawn.
First of all, I would like to talk about the playing environment. Back then, player misbehavior like trashtalking, intentional feeding, AFK, weren't as common as today. It can be labeled as toxic which makes the gameplay disappointing and stressful.
Now to the gameplay, we have 124 heroes available as of 2024. Heroes are divided into six roles: tank, fighter, assassin, mage, marksman, and support. A hero can be under these three categories: pure, primary, and secondary. For example, Miya is a full marksman (pure), Lesley is a Marksman/Assassin (primary), and Edith is a Tank/Marksman (secondary).
My favorite heroes are Karina, Alucard, Wanwan, Vexana, Pharsa, Nana, Lunox, Odette, Estes, Natan, Saber, Aamon, Gusion, and Johnson. The heroes I mainly used were from Alucard to Karina, to Nana, to Odette, to Pharsa, to Lunox, to Estes, and to Vexana. My role is usually assassin, mage or support.
For your information, there 720 hero skins in all, including Normal, Elite, Epic, Special, Collector, Legend, Squad, Zodiac, and additional skins. Some skins don't give additional benefits but some do like a "+8 Magical Damage". In addition, a basic skin can be used to upgrade to an elite or special skin via Skin Upgrade (except if they're only available for a limited time), however only a fraction of the skin's cost is deducted.
There are six game modes in the game namely: Classic, Ranked, Brawl, Vs. AI, Custom, Arcade, and Magic Chess.
1) Classic — This mode gives 5v5 and the Mobile Legends experience without worrying about losing your Rank, but your win rate will be affected, both from the hero side and the whole.
2) Ranked — The rank system is used in matchmaking to ensure that all players played equally and fairly. Players earn or lose stars if they win or lose in this mode.
3) Brawl — In this mode you are unable to choose your heroes freely. Instead you will be given a choice between two random heroes in your inventory. This mode contains only one lane with two turrets defending the base in both teams respectively. Brawl matches usually end in a much shorter time compared to Classic Mode and Ranked. This type of match is best for raising lost credit scores due to reports and AFK behavior.
4) Vs. AI — Just as the name of the mode suggests, this game mode will present the player with a 5 vs 5 matchup, similar to any other mode. However, you will not play along with real time players but instead, compete against computer-controlled opponents. An AI (artificial intelligence) team automatically driven by the computer will fight against you.
5) Custom — Custom games are very similar to Vs. AI. The difference is the players set themselves up against other people or against AI. Players can invite friends to join, or add AI with existing buttons. Players can also add AI to the opposing team or on your team, you can also play alone with an AI.
6) Arcade — An additional game mode in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang that can time-to-time be playable during Special Events, Holidays, or Occasion.
An additional game mode is Magic Chess which can be found in Arcade. It is an 8-player complex strategy based game mode, where players will compete against each other and random creeps in the Magic Chessboard. The goal of this game is to buy and upgrade your heroes and the little commander, customizing your lineup to trigger and counter more and stronger synergies. The victory belongs to the one stands until the last.
In Ranked Mode, these are the ranks:
— Warrior, Elite, Master, Grandmaster, Epic, Legend, and Mythic (Mythical Honor and Mythical Glory).
Has anyone felt the bottleneck when you're in Epic or is it just me with rusty skills? I have been Epic for ages and MLBB adds two more ranks.
In Magic Chess, these are the ranks:
— Warrior, Elite, Master, Grandmaster, Epic, Legend, and Mythic.
Two teams of five players go against each other in real-time. Players will be matched in correspondence with their current ranking. Taking down the opposing base is the main goal of achieving victory.
"There are three lanes in the game: The gold lane (top), exp lane (bottom), and the mid lane. Depending on what side of the map (blue or red) a player starts on, the gold and exp lanes will be switching places. Between each lane is the jungle. The jungle can be divided into four parts: two between the enemy's lanes and two between a player's team lanes. The jungle has different creeps and monsters that offer buffs, experience, and gold."
"A player can't attack the enemy base directly without taking down opposing turrets in at least one lane first. Each lane has three turrets that shoot at heroes and deal a ton of damage. To attack them without taking damage, a player needs help from their team's “minions”. Minions constantly spawn at the teams’ bases and travel down along each lane. The team to successfully destroys all the turrets in one or all lanes will increase their chances of destroying the opposite team's base."
Mobile Legends also offers various events from collaborations or special occasions. The game also has tournaments like the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) and the Mobile Legends World Championship.
