EIYUDEN CHRONICLES HH - NOT SUIKODENS SUCCESSOR!

Translate
I've played my fair share of JRPG, RPG, and story games, and there have only been a handful that have been difficult to get through, those being Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes, Tales of Eternia and Star Ocean The Last Hope.
The fundamental issue is that the translation from Japanese to English was plain atrocious. I'm not talking about basic errors in the dialogue; I'm talking about whole reinterpretations of the meaning into a completely different phrase. It's like if you were asking a question like "Do you think he needs help?" only to have it translated in a way that makes it sound derogatory with a response like "Are you sure that's a he?"
I can't stand self-injected "humor" or opinions that detract from the game experience. It works sometimes in games where the dialog itself cannot be translated to English due to political conflicts, but there was none of that here, only a poorly translated localization that felt very inappropriate and unprofessional as showcased above.
The most frustrating part is that this only occurs in English dubs; all other languages were properly and accurately translated. The game itself felt forced in many ways, and open world exploration lacked significantly. The war games consisted of a single long, un-skippable cutscene in which you executed a few commands and that was it; the mini-games were dull and uninteresting and lacked the charm of a classic JRPG.
It has many of the same elements as the Suikoden series, yet none of them work as you would anticipate. It's similar to how Back 4 Blood advertised their game as the successor to Left 4 Dead simply because of the few devs who worked on it, but in actuality the Valve team carried the most of the workload. If you only speak English and do not understand any other languages, get the fan-made translation and play Japanese Voices. It won't change the relatively boring gameplay or the castle/world building, but it will improve the story and characters immensely.
