If you took one look at some of the screens I’ve posted here from Data Wing, the arcade racing game from developer Dan Vogt, and assumed this was just one of those cool, flashy score chase games and nothing more, I would totally understand. It’s got all the telltale signs: the neon color palette, the effortlessly cool club music soundtrack, the barely-there user interface, and the simplistic, two-button control layout. It’s got to be one of those indie games that’s all about looking good and not so much about saying anything, right?

To start off with my one critique, I think it vould have used an extra 5-10 levels. I've never seen a game like this and wish there was more to play. However, it really is a great problem solving/racing game. I'm not really even sure how to place it into any category except one of its own. No explanation will do it justice, one just has to play it. My favorite feature, however, was the ability to go through the same level multiple times to accomplish more difficult goals. 9/1

Data Wing is definitely THE MOST unique racing games that I've played. It appears to be an arcade style racing game with really chill soundtrack at first. But at its core, the game is wrapped with a good story. If you are into the 'artificial intelligence and consciousness' stuff, you will like this.

I'm not a big fan of racing game. BUT this game really catches my eye through its unique and sci-fi style. As you may know, I'm an amateur musician. This game has got insanely great music taste. Literally, I can launch this game and listen the music all day without playing it. I can sense the feeling of decadent post-modern apologue from the techno beat and synthwave variation. The interaction of Mother (Guide NPC) is also very interesting that he/she/it is keeping roasting you from the beginning! On the other hand, I even felt a little bit panic when mother said: They'd lost in their world without me. It is true that the mother blends in all aspects of our life.

Don’t let its stylish graphics and romantic vaporwave music fool you. THIS GAME IS HARD. And don’t let its racing track fool you, either. IT’S NOT A RACING GAME. Well, it probably is a racing game. After all, most of the tasks involve racing. But I don’t want to define it simply as a racing game. It’s more than that. •‿• Sorry for the caps. I’m just excited about finding this hidden gem on TapTap.
