It refines the established formula of Grim Quest and Grim Tides, all the while offering an intricate story and detailed lore that ties in with previous games in strange and unexpected ways. Inspired by ttRPG classics such as Vampire (The Masquerade, The Dark Ages, Bloodlines) and Dungeons and Dragons' Ravenloft (Curse of Strahd).
